Self-help skills refer to the skills a child needs to look after themselves independently. This can include dressing, grooming, eating, toiletting and bathing.
As a child grows into adulthood, self-help skills may also include making their own meals, accessing public transport, shopping and managing a budget. Occupational Therapists can help children to develop skills needed to perform these activities of daily living or they may develop ways to adapt the activity so that the child can perform as much as they are able to. |
